Dr David Dawson: We’ve all heard of greenwashing, deflecting environmental concerns by applying green labels to thinly-disguised business as usual. Well, it’s going on locally, in the proposals to convert Wimbledon Park Golf Course and lake into a huge new tennis development for the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Local environmental scientist, Dr Dave Dawson, has peeled off the greenwash to reveal the actual effect of the proposals. The golf course and lake are the largest part of a heritage landscape, which also includes the public park. This landscape is the last remaining part of Capability Brown’s 18th century park."...read more
