Re: Planning applications No 21/P2900 (Merton) and 2021/3609
(Wandsworth)
Dear Mr Khan,
We attach hereto for your attention, the Save Wimbledon Park petition which has now reached 16,145 (at the time of typing).
We have attached a
protected excel file to the email while forwarding this letter as well as the petition wording as well as our petition leaflet.
Whilst writing we would like to clarify our petition signature gathering methods.
1. Leaflets have been posted through letterboxes - we have never knocked on doors, allowing residents to make up their own mind as to whether to sign in their own time.
2. We have worn our T-shirts at Stations (on only 4/5 occasions) and those who want a leaflet simply take one. We engage with them if they choose to ask a question. No one is asked to sign something there and then - we direct them to the website www.savewimbedonpark.org for further information. Once again they can make up their own mind if they are supportive or not and decide whether or not to go online to sign the petition.
3. We have worn our T-shirts (only twice) in Wimbledon Public Park and again engage with people if they engage with us - as detailed above.
4. We are all volunteers in a Community group and are not paid to get signatures.
5. Social media on our Website, Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.
6. Our leaflet (attached to the email) has been fully fact checked from the 182
documents on the Merton & Wandsworth websites (in as far as we can as it is difficult to know what the latest version is as changes haven’t been tracked) from a planning, environmental and legal perspective.
We continue to ensure that we are providing factual information on all the
relevant issues from a legal, environmental, air quality and vehicle movement
point of view.
Save Wimbledon Park campaign group comprises RA’s in Merton and
Wandsworth, The Wimbledon Society, The Wandsworth Society and we have
the support of Fleur Anderson Labour MP for Southfields, Roehampton and
Putney as well as Stephen Hammond, Conservative MP for Wimbledon, Hina
Bokari, Lib Dem Assembly Member, Leonie Cooper, London Assembly
representative for Merton & Wandsworth, Councillor Paul Kohler Lib Dem,
local Councillors in Village, Wimbledon Park, Southfields and West Hill wards
and The Merton Green Party.
Kind Regards,
Save Wimbledon Park
