A major expansion planned for tennis’ Wimbledon Grand Slam is set to face extended delays into the next decade, with the planning application lodged by the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) expected to not being heard until late April.


In 2018, the members of Wimbledon Park Golf Club voted to sell its land to the AELTC in a deal worth UK£65 million (US$77.87 million). The club plans to use the 73-acre site to build a new Parkland Show Court with a fan capacity of 8,000, as well as turning the land into an area comprising of 38 grass courts, in order to stage the Wimbledon qualifying tournament onsite while also hosting an increased daily audience attendance of 50,000."...read more
