"Join CPRE London for the launch of their new Green Defenders report highlighting more than thirty precious green spaces in London that are currently under threat from development. Hear from local campaigners who are fighting to save them, learn more about why these much-loved spaces are in danger and find out what can be done to protect them.
London only has half the green space it needs for a population its size. We must protect what we have.
The report calls for The London Mayor and boroughs to:
• prevent developments which would result in loss of vital parks and green spaces
• help map all vulnerable green sites
• support local groups to get fenced-off or derelict sites back into use
• strengthen planning protections in the London Plan
• support boroughs to bring brownfield sites forward for development so green fields are not targeted."
You will hear from local campaigners, including Christopher Coombe of the SWP campaign group, and WPRA committee member, who are fighting to save them. learn more about why these much-loved spaces are in danger and find out what can be done to protect them.
